How can I become a member?
Anyone interested in the literature, history, art, music, politics and society of the 18th century can become a member.
Advantages of membership:
- You are part of a worldwide research network (ISECS) and can actively engage in discussions with other members in Germany and abroad.
- You will be informed about the latest trends in 18th century research on our website, via newsletters and through conferences and workshops.
- You actively promote 18th century research in Austria through your membership.
- You will receive access authorisation for the ÖGE 18 member directory, which lists all contact information, research focuses and institutions.
- You will receive the current yearbook The Eighteenth Century and Austria free of charge; with a reduced membership fee you will receive the eBook
- You can purchase books from the series and older ÖGE 18 yearbooks on the website of Böhlau-Verlag and Dr Dieter Winkler-Verlag Bochum at a reduced price (20% off the retail price when ordered from the Society’s office).

Give the gift of an ÖGE 18 membership
Since 2022, members of the ÖGE 18 have been able to give annual memberships to colleagues and institutions as a gift. Whether to young researchers for whom exchange is important, especially at the beginning of their scientific career, to established colleagues whose expertise will enrich ÖGE 18, or to institutions that would like to contribute to support – all initiatives are welcome.
This allows the recipient to enjoy the numerous benefits that ÖGE 18 membership brings:

On the day of the 18th century, new members are welcomed by being presented with their membership card together with a welcome letter and, in the case of full membership, the current yearbook.
To give away an ÖGE 18 membership, you need:
- a current membership of the donor in ÖGE 18
- clarification of the acceptance of a membership by the person receiving the gift, together with consent to the transfer and forwarding of the data, by completing the ‘Gifting an ÖGE 18 membership’ form
- sending the completed and signed form by post to:

Exclusive member area
A member area is available to our members, which includes the member directory with the main areas of research.
You will need a user name and password to join. Both will be sent to you automatically every year after payment of the membership fee.
